Day 11: Returning Home

Everthing comes to an end, including this week-and-a-half trip to find some warmth. We have decided to take public transportation to the airport. The bus #9 stops less than 100 yards from the AirBnB. We drag our suitcase to the bus stop before six in the morning, which turns out to be a good thing, as the bus is seven minutes early. We take the bus to the transit center, where the #30 bus takes us to the airport.

Bus #30 to Tampa International airport.

It turns out we were really lucky with the weather: we have had all sunshine, but while we are waiting for our plane, it starts pouring down rain. The plane to Charlotte is perfectly on time, but the one from Charlotte to BWI is almost two hours late, due to problems with ice in the morning.

Our plane to Baltimore arriving almost two hours late.

All flights are again full, but I have to say that these Airbus planes that American Airlines operates are a lot nicer than most of the other planes I have been on lately. There is an inch or two more leg room, which really helps a lot. Normally, when I sit up straight, my legs still bump into the chair in front of me. Now, I’m able to sit with (a little bit of) room to spare. Also, I’m wondering if the keep the cabin at a higher pressure, since I don’t feel my ears popping at all.

Leaving Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Bay Bridge over the Chesapeake Bay.
Approaching Baltimore.

We have to wait for what feels like an eternity for the luggage to show up, but finally we have our suitcase. Fred and Terry, who brought us to the airport, pick us up again and deliver us back home, where our cat Cleopatra is happy to see us.
